عن عبد الله بن عمرو رضي الله عنهما أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: «الدُّنْيَا مَتَاعٌ، وَخَيْرُ مَتَاعِ الدُّنْيَا الْمَرْأَةُ الصَّالِحَةُ».
Translation
‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The world is but an enjoyment and the best of worldly enjoyments is a righteous woman."
Explanation
The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) informs that worldly life and what it contains is but a thing enjoyed for a while and then comes to an end and that the best worldly enjoyment is the righteous wife: when her husband looks at her, she pleases him; if he asks her for something, she obeys him; and when he is away from her, she safeguards him regarding herself and his wealth.
Benefits
- It is permissible to enjoy worldly good things Allah has made lawful for His servants without excess or pride.
- A man is encouraged to choose a righteous wife, for she helps him in obeying his Lord.
- The best worldly enjoyments are those used in obeying Allah or they are helpful in this regard.

يُخْبِرُ النبيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أنَّ الدنيا بما فيها إنما هي شيءٌ يُتَمَتَّعُ به حينًا من الوقت ثم يزول، وأنَّ أفضلَ متاعِها الزوجةُ الصالحةُ، التي إذا نَظَرَ إليها سَرَّتْه، وإذا أَمَرَها أطاعتْه، وإذا غاب عنها حَفِظَتْه في نفسِها ومالِهِ.
- جواز التَّمَتُّعِ بطَيِّبَاتِ الدنيا التي أحلَّها الله لعباده دون سَرَفٍ أو مَخِيْلَة.
- الترغيب في اختيار الزوجة الصالحة؛ لأنها عَوْنٌ للزوج على طاعة ربه.
- خير متاع الدنيا ما كان في طاعة الله أو أعان عليها.
