    مُهْطِعِينَ مُقْنِعِى رُءُوسِهِمْ لَا يَرْتَدُّ إِلَيْهِمْ طَرْفُهُمْ ۖ وَأَفْـِٔدَتُهُمْ هَوَآءٌ

    (43) Racing ahead, their heads raised up, their glance does not come back to them,^[663] and their hearts are void.

    Footnotes

    [663]- This is their state at the time of resurrection from the graves. Their heads are upraised in fixed stares of terror, unable even to glance back.

    {43} {مُهْطِعينَ}؛ أي: مسرعين إلى إجابة الداعي حين يدعوهم إلى الحضور بين يدي الله للحساب، لا امتناعَ لهم ولا محيص ولا ملجأ، {مُقنعي رؤوسهم}؛ أي: رافعيها، قد غُلَّتْ أيديهم إلى الأذقان، فارتفعت لذلك رؤوسهم، {لا يرتدُّ إليهم طرفُهم وأفئِدَتُهم هواء}؛ أي: أفئدتهم فارغةٌ من قلوبهم، قد صعدت إلى الحناجر، لكنَّها مملوءةٌ من كل همٍّ وغمٍّ وحزن وقلق.
