    قَالُوا۟ تَقَاسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ لَنُبَيِّتَنَّهُۥ وَأَهْلَهُۥ ثُمَّ لَنَقُولَنَّ لِوَلِيِّهِۦ مَا شَهِدْنَا مَهْلِكَ أَهْلِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَصَـٰدِقُونَ

    (49) They said, "Take a mutual oath by Allāh that we will kill him by night, he and his family. Then we will say to his executor,^[1080] 'We did not witness the destruction of his family, and indeed, we are truthful.'"

    {49} فلم يزالوا بهذه الحال الشنيعةِ حتى أنَّهم من عداوتهم {تقاسموا} فيما بينَهم؛ كلُّ واحدٍ أقسم للآخر: {لَنُبَيِّتَنَّهُ وأهلَه}؛ أي: لنأتِيَنَّهم ليلاً هو وأهله، فلنقتلنّهم، {ثم لنقولَنَّ لوليِّه}: إذا قام علينا وادَّعى علينا أنَّا قَتَلْناهم؛ ننكِرُ ذلك وننفيه ونحلفُ: {إنَّا لَصادِقونَ}.
