    وَلُوطًا إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَتَأْتُونَ ٱلْفَـٰحِشَةَ وَأَنتُمْ تُبْصِرُونَ

    (54) And [mention] Lot, when he said to his people, "Do you commit immorality^[1081] while you are seeing?^[1082]

    [1081]- Homosexual acts. [1082]- i.e., openly. Another meaning is "...while you are aware [that it is wrong]."

    {54} أي: واذكرْ عبدَنا ورسولَنا لوطاً ونبأه الفاضلَ حين قال لقومِهِ داعياً لهم إلى الله وناصحاً: {أتأتونَ الفاحشةَ}؛ أي: الفَعْلَةَ الشنعاء التي تستفحِشُها العقولُ والفطرُ وتستقبِحُها الشرائع. {وأنتُم تبصِرونَ}: ذلك وتعلمونَ قُبحَه، فعاندتم وارتكَبْتُم ذلك ظلماً منكم وجرأةً على الله.
