    وَأَنزَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَـٰهَرُوهُم مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مِن صَيَاصِيهِمْ وَقَذَفَ فِى قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلرُّعْبَ فَرِيقًا تَقْتُلُونَ وَتَأْسِرُونَ فَرِيقًا

    (26) And He brought down those who supported them among the People of the Scripture^[1193] from their fortresses and cast terror into their hearts [so that] a party [i.e., their men] you killed, and you took captive a party [i.e., the women and children].

    [1193]- The Jews of Banū Quraythah, who had violated their treaty with the Muslims.

    {26} {وأنزلَ الذين ظاهَروهم}؛ أي: عاونوهم {من أهل الكتاب}؛ أي: من اليهود {من صياصِيهم}؛ أي: أنزلهم من حصونهم نزولاً مظفوراً بهم مجعولين تحت حكم الإسلام، {وَقَذَفَ في قلوبِهِمُ الرعبَ}: فلم يقووا على القتال، بل استسلموا وخضعوا وذلُّوا. {فريقاً تقتلون}: وهم الرجال المقاتلون، {وتأسرونَ فريقاً}: من عداهم من النساء والصبيان.
