    وَٱلَّذِينَ يُحَآجُّونَ فِى ٱللَّهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا ٱسْتُجِيبَ لَهُۥ حُجَّتُهُمْ دَاحِضَةٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ وَعَلَيْهِمْ غَضَبٌ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ

    (16) And those who argue concerning Allāh after He has been responded to^[1417] - their argument is invalid with their Lord, and upon them is [His] wrath, and for them is a severe punishment.

    Footnotes

    [1417]- i.e., after people have accepted the truth from Allāh, in an attempt to turn the believers away from His religion of Islām.

    Covers verses 16

    {16} وهذا تقريرٌ لقوله: {لا حجَّة بيننا وبينكم}؛ فأخبر هنا أنَّ {الذين يحاجُّون في الله}: بالحجج الباطلة والشُّبه المتناقضة {من بعد ما استُجيبَ}: للَّه؛ أي: من بعد ما استجاب لله أولو الألباب والعقول لما بيَّن لهم من الآيات القاطعة والبراهين الساطعة؛ فهؤلاء المجادلون للحقِّ من بعدما تبيَّن {حجَّتُهم داحضةٌ}؛ أي: باطلةٌ مدفوعةٌ {عند ربِّهم}؛ لأنَّها مشتملةٌ على ردِّ الحقِّ، وكلُّ ما خالف الحقَّ؛ فهو باطلٌ، {وعَلَيهم غَضَبٌ}: بعصيانهم وإعراضهم عن حجج الله وبيناته وتكذيبها، {ولهم عذابٌ شديدٌ}: هو أثر غضبِ الله عليهم؛ فهذه عقوبة كلِّ مجادل للحقِّ بالباطل.
