    ۞ أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ دَمَّرَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ وَلِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ أَمْثَـٰلُهَا

    (10) Have they not traveled through the land and seen how was the end of those before them? Allāh destroyed [everything] over them,^[1497] and for the disbelievers is something comparable.

    {10} أي: أفلا يسير هؤلاء المكذِّبون بالرسول - صلى الله عليه وسلم -، {فينظروا كيف كان عاقبةُ الذين من قبلهم}: فإنَّهم لا يجدون عاقبتهم إلاَّ شرَّ العواقب؛ فإنَّهم لا يلتفتون يمنةً ولا يسرةً إلاَّ وجدوا ما حولهم قد بادوا وهلكوا واستأصلهم التكذيبُ والكفرُ، فخمدوا، ودمَّر الله عليهم أموالهم وديارهم، بل دمَّر أعمالهم ومكرهم، وللكافرين في كلِّ زمان ومكان أمثالُ هذه العواقب الوخيمة والعقوبات الذميمة، وأما المؤمنونَ؛ فإنَّ الله تعالى يُنجيهم من العذاب، ويُجْزِلُ لهم كثير الثواب.
