    يُنَادُونَهُمْ أَلَمْ نَكُن مَّعَكُمْ ۖ قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ وَلَـٰكِنَّكُمْ فَتَنتُمْ أَنفُسَكُمْ وَتَرَبَّصْتُمْ وَٱرْتَبْتُمْ وَغَرَّتْكُمُ ٱلْأَمَانِىُّ حَتَّىٰ جَآءَ أَمْرُ ٱللَّهِ وَغَرَّكُم بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْغَرُورُ

    (14) They [i.e., the hypocrites] will call to them [i.e., the believers], "Were we not with you?" They will say, "Yes, but you afflicted yourselves^[1631] and awaited [misfortune for us] and doubted, and wishful thinking deluded you until there came the command of Allāh. And the Deceiver [i.e., Satan] deceived you concerning Allāh.

    {14} فينادي المنافقونَ المؤمنين، فيقولونَ تضرُّعاً وترحُّماً: {ألم نكن معكُمْ}: في الدُّنيا نقول: لا إله إلاَّ الله، ونصلِّي ونصوم ونجاهد ونعمل مثل عملكم؟ {قالوا بلى}: كنتم معنا في الدنيا وعملتُم في الظاهر مثلَ عملنا، ولكنَّ أعمالَكم أعمالُ المنافقين من غيرِ إيمانٍ ولا نيَّةٍ صادقةٍ صالحةٍ، {بل فَتَنتُم أنفسَكم [وتربَّصْتُم] وارْتَبْتُم}؛ أي: شككتم في خبر الله الذي لا يقبل شكًّا، {وغرَّتْكُم الأماني}: الباطلة؛ حيث تمنَّيتم أن تنالوا منالَ المؤمنين وأنتم غير موقنين، {حتى جاء أمرُ الله}؛ أي: حتى جاءكم الموتُ وأنتم بتلك الحالة الذَّميمة، {وغَرَّكم بالله الغَرورُ}: وهو الشيطانُ الذي زين لكم الكفر والريبَ فاطمأننتم به، ووثقتم بوعدِهِ وصدَّقتم خبره.
