    قُلْ أَرَءَيْتَكُمْ إِنْ أَتَىٰكُمْ عَذَابُ ٱللَّهِ أَوْ أَتَتْكُمُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ أَغَيْرَ ٱللَّهِ تَدْعُونَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ

    (40) Say, "Have you considered:^[303] if there came to you the punishment of Allāh or there came to you the Hour - is it other than Allāh you would invoke, if you should be truthful?"

    [303]- The meaning is understood to be "Tell me..."

    {40} يقول تعالى لرسوله: {قُلْ} للمشركين بالله العادلينَ به غيره: {أرأيْتَكُم إن أتاكم عذابُ اللهِ أو أتَتْكُمُ الساعةُ أغير الله تدعونَ إن كنتم صادقين}؛ أي: إذا حَصَلَتْ هذه المشقات وهذه الكروب التي يُضْطَرُّ إلى دفعِها؛ هل تدعونَ آلهتكم وأصنامكم أم تدعونَ ربَّكم المَلِكَ الحقَّ المبين؟
