   إِنَّمَا يَنْهَىٰكُمُ ٱللَّهُ عَنِ ٱلَّذِينَ قَـٰتَلُوكُمْ فِى ٱلدِّينِ وَأَخْرَجُوكُم مِّن دِيَـٰرِكُمْ وَظَـٰهَرُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ إِخْرَاجِكُمْ أَن تَوَلَّوْهُمْ ۚ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّهُمْ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ

   (9) Allāh only forbids you from those who fight you because of religion and expel you from your homes and aid in your expulsion - [forbids] that you make allies^[1675] of them. And whoever makes allies of them, then it is those who are the wrongdoers.

   Covers verses 9

   {9} وقوله: {إنَّما ينهاكُم اللهُ عن الذين قاتَلوكم في الدِّين}؛ أي: لأجل دينكم؛ عداوةً لدين الله ولِمَنْ قام به، {وأخْرَجوكم من دِياركم وظاهَروا}؛ أي: عاونوا غيرهم {على إخراجِكم}: نهاكم الله {أن تَوَلَّوهم}: بالنصرة والموَّدة بالقول والفعل، وأما بِرُّكم وإحسانُكم الذي ليس بتولٍّ للمشركين؛ فلم ينهكم الله عنه، بل ذلك داخلٌ في عموم الأمر بالإحسان إلى الأقارب وغيرهم من الآدميين وغيرهم، {ومن يَتَوَلَّهم} منكم {فأولئك هم الظالمونَ}: وذلك الظلمُ يكون بحسب التولِّي؛ فإنْ كان تولياً تامًّا؛ كان ذلك كفراً مخرجاً عن دائرة الإسلام وتحت ذلك من المراتب ما هو غليظٌ وما هو دونه.
