    فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ

    (5) So as for Thamūd, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast].

    {5} {فأمَّا ثمودُ فأهْلِكوا بالطَّاغية}: وهي الصيحة العظيمة الفظيعة، التي قطَّعتْ قلوبهم وزهقتْ لها أرواحهم، فأصبحوا موتى لا يُرى إلاَّ مساكِنُهم وجُثَثُهم.
