    وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ رَضُوا۟ مَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ وَقَالُوا۟ حَسْبُنَا ٱللَّهُ سَيُؤْتِينَا ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَرَسُولُهُۥٓ إِنَّآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ رَٰغِبُونَ

    (59) If only they had been satisfied with what Allāh and His Messenger gave them and said, "Sufficient for us is Allāh; Allāh will give us of His bounty, and [so will] His Messenger; indeed, we are desirous toward Allāh,"^[486] [it would have been better for them].

    [486]- Meaning "We desire Allāh and His grace and acceptance," or "We desire whatever Allāh wills to give us of His bounty."

    {59} وقال هنا: {ولو أنَّهم رَضوا ما آتاهم الله ورسولُه}؛ أي: أعطاهم من قليل وكثيرٍ، {وقالوا حسبُنا الله}؛ أي: كافينا الله فنرضى بما قَسَمه لنا، وليؤملوا فضله وإحسانه إليهم بأن يقولوا: {سيؤتينا الله من فضلِهِ ورسولُهُ إنَّا إلى الله راغبون}؛ أي: متضرِّعون في جلب منافعنا ودفع مضارِّنا؛ [لسلموا من النفاق، ولهدوا إلى الإيمانِ والأحوالِ العاليةِ].
